Tomorrow we venture off for our 5th annual July trip to the Emmanuel Children’s Home in Juarez, Mexico. Can’t believe we’re in our 5th year (and 11th trip!!). God is good! (All the time!)

At Ace, we have a heart for community. We have a heart for God’s Kingdom! And we have a open heart as we seek to be part of building community, and His Kingdom, right here. Right now!

I am a HUGE believer that one of the first things we can do to be transformative agents of His love is to stretch ourselves. Get outside of our comfort zones! Be challenged! Because when we’re comfortable, we tend to stay put. Not move. Kick back and settle.

These are not qualities of Kingdom-bearers.

Our God calls us to move (to the very ends of the world even). Notice the action-verbs of commands like “Take up your cross and follow me” or “Love one another, as I first loved you.” God doesn’t call us to be passive, but active!

Some individuals have wondered about the correlation between our abroad programs and what we do locally. I understand that, but the answer is actually quite simple: To best steward our time and energy here, we need to get out of our bubbles and go somewhere where we’re not comfortable. Because we’ve realized that God uses these experiences as opportunities for spiritual growth or conviction. To rejuvenate our passion, restore humility, and deepen our faith!

Tomorrow we leave for one of the most beautiful places on the planet! Pray for our trip and for those on the team. For safety, yes. But, above all else, that God’s will be done and our hearts transformed by His Spirit to more closely reflect His love!
